Performance

The CX-90 and CX-70 both feature a mild hybrid powertrain. The standard engine for both models is the e-SKYACTIV-G 3.3L Turbo Inline 6. The regular version produces 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque with premium fuel, while the higher-output version produces 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque in S models. The engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and are standard i-ACTIV AWD. Both vehicles can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Interior

The main difference between the CX-90 and CX-70 is seating capacity. The CX-90 is designed to accommodate large families, offering seating for up to eight passengers across three rows. It also includes configurations for six or seven passengers with optional captain’s chairs.

In contrast, the CX-70 is designed for those with smaller passenger needs, offering seating for five across two rows. Because it includes only two rows, it offers greater rear cargo capacity than the CX-90, with 39.6 cu.ft. compared to the CX-90’s 14.9 cu.ft. Both SUVs offer luxurious interior appointments, including Nappa leather upholstery and heated and ventilated front seats.

Exterior

Both vehicles follow a similar design philosophy that emphasizes fluidity and elegance, with black accents on the door handles, mirrors, and grille differentiating the CX-70 from the CX-90. LED headlights and taillights are standard on both vehicles, while higher trims offer adaptive front lighting that enhances visibility during curves.

19-inch wheels come standard on both, with upper trims featuring 21-inch alloy wheels. A hands-free power liftgate is available in both, making it easy to load and unload gear or groceries.

Technology

Both vehicles come with a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, except for the base Select model of the CX-90, which features a 10.25-inch screen. Both are operated with a rotary dial and buttons. The CX-70 includes an integrated Amazon Alexa voice assistant that makes it easy to control the system while driving. Both vehicles feature a standard 8-speaker stereo, but a 12-speaker Bose premium system is available as an upgrade.

The CX-90 and CX-70 are similar SUVs, both sharing a powertrain, design cues, and technology. The three-row CX-90 is ideal for those with higher passenger or cargo needs, while the CX-70 makes an excellent daily driver for almost anyone.
