You can also fold down some or all of the back row to get 56.3 cubic feet of cargo space. Some competitors’ hybrid models have less cargo space because the battery takes up some space in the cargo area, but the CX-50’s hybrids are just as spacious as its fully gas-powered models.

2. Mazda Intelligent Drive Select Drive Modes
You can switch up the CX-50’s driving mode depending on your desires and the situation at hand. All gas models have a Sport mode, which makes the already-zippy ride even zippier. If you’re heading onto the trails, then switch into Off-Road mode so your vehicle will adjust its performance for the more difficult terrain. The 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition and up also have towing modes, which aligns with their higher towing capacity than the other trims.
Hybrid models don’t have any of the modes that gas models have. Instead, they do have Power and Trail modes.
3. Hands-Free Communication
The CX-50’s 10.25-inch infotainment system lets you wirelessly connect your smartphone to the car. Once you’ve done this, you can use certain functions of your phone while you drive. By using voice commands to use the phone, you can answer and make calls, listen to text messages you receive, dictate messages to send to others, and use your calendar to stay organized even while driving.
4. Rear Power Liftgate with Programmable Height Adjustment
Every CX-50 apart from the base trim has a power liftgate, so it’s easy to get it open without much effort. You can program how high it rises when opened, so you have complete control over how much height it takes up and can change how much it opens based on your needs.
5. Ability to Tow
The first four gas trims of the CX-50 can tow up to 2,000 pounds, and this bumps up to 3,500 in the rest of the gas models. All three hybrid models have a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.
